Had not thought of that

Another threshold passed. I’m done with the saturation or immersion stage of learning something new. That’s the one where all you do for an undetermined time is immerse yourself in the new topic. You learn the history, the memes, the practical and the pitfalls. You read everything you can find, visit forums, join mail lists. The goal is to learn at least enough of the basics to build a good foundation. For me that’s followed by the vacuum, which is when I back off and let it all soak in. Finally, I go back to living my life in a more balanced-yet-altered manner. It feels good to have reached this minor milestone!

Labor Day weekend is almost upon us. I’m taking Friday off as an extra travel day; we’re going to the in-laws place up North in the mountains. Way up in the mountains, right on the river, with a couple acre garden to munch on. My brother-in-law, his wife and two kids will be there as well. And that means I’ve hit my first practical complication, one that I’m sure will seem kinda funny in a few years. It is forecast to be about a hundred degrees. I can get away with T-shirts if they aren’t tight, but I don’t think I can wear shorts without a lot of ’splaining to do…
